Patrols

Patrols this year are starting to take shape, we are currently updating our patrolling list and patrol captains, the final patrol roster should be available in 2 weeks. Please see below about being a Patrol Captain and ensuring you get placed on appropriate patrols.

Patrol Captains Course

We are currently looking for Members who wish to be Patrol Captains this year. If you have not done this before but are interested in taking on a leadership role in the Club, there is a Patrol Captains course which will give you an understanding of what you need and give you some training on how to be a Patrol Captain.
If you want to become a Patrol Captain please reply this email, the requirements are that you are 16 years or older and have patrolled for 2 seasons. This course will give you valuable skills and our experienced Patrol Captains will help guide you into the role.

Patrol Availability Forms

This year our patrols will work differently to previous years, we want everyone to fill in a Patrol Availability form, then we will endeavour to ensure people only patrol when they can. Please fill in and return this for by next Wednesday 4th of November. Thank you to everyone who did this at Registration Day.
The forms are available on our website under Patrols on the top menu, or by clicking here.

Regional Guard Applications

A reminder that applications for Summer Employment as a Regional Lifeguard, Beach Ed and Event Lifeguard close this Friday with Surf Life Saving Wellington. The application forms are available here.

Sport Expression of Interest Forms

If you intend travelling to any of the major surf carnivals this season you need to complete a Surf Sports Expression of Interest Form by 30 November. This lets the sports committee can organise accommodation and travel for away trips. This is for senior members as well as U14 members who wish to attend Ocean Athletes.
To access a form, click here.

Long Course Event Results

Lyall Bay hosted a long course event on Monday 26th October. This event was held in windy and challenging conditions. The course was 15 kilometres for the Boats and Ski’s and 5 kilometres for the Boards. All competitors performed well and persevered. To see the results and full article click here.
Thank you to everyone who helped out and made the day a success.

Clubrooms and Showers

We need to look after our Surf Club. This applies to EVERYONE using the surf club. If everyone looks after our Club we all get the benefits.
This might include:
  • hanging your wet wetsuits up on the rail provided in the changing rooms.  Do not leave your wetsuits in a wet smelly pile on the floor as it is inconsiderate to other club members. Wetsuits left on the floor may be removed.
  • if the shower starts flooding trying to unblock it, but definitely TURNING THE SHOWER OFF as otherwise the club gets wrecked as water gets everywhere.
  • please make an effort to turn the shower taps off tightly so they do not drip.
  • putting all your rubbish and food scraps in the bins. This makes the club a much more enjoyable place to be.
Failing to respect the Club might mean the Club fails to respect you.
