Labour Weekend:22nd - 25th October 2010

The Lyall Bay club was formed at a meeting held on 15th August 1910 and was the first surf life saving club in NZ to start patrolling a beach.

The club will be celebrating its Centenary during the summer of 2010 - 2011 and will hold a reunion in Wellington on Labour weekend 2010 (22nd - 25th October)

The main events for the weekend are:

Friday 22nd October  Cocktail party, Grand Hall, Parliament

Saturday 24th October  Gala Dinner, Te Papa

Book

A book outlining the history of the Lyall Bay club is currently being written by well known historian and author Dr Gavin McLean. This will be a fascinating insight into not only the club but also its place in the local community.
