Surf Lifeguard training sessions
SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award Examination
Once you are qualified you can commence patrolling and are able
to utilise Lifeguard Skills / Development courses to extend your
training and partake in our Surf Sports programme.
Throughout the season (begins in October) the club runs
Lifeguard training classes which allow new members, or Junior surf
members who have turned 14, to train towards attaining their Surf
Lifeguard Award (formerly the Bronze Medallion) which then
qualifies them to be part of a patrol team and compete at the Surf
Lifesaving New Zealand National Championships.
The Cost of the Surf Lifeguard Award is $50 which covers the cost
of the Surf Lifeguard award Manual and Workbook which you get and
need to complete the Course, this fee also covers your basic
Lifeguard uniform which will be given to you once you have

financial member of Lyall Bay SLSC and be enrolled on the SLSNZ database.
If you are unsure whether you have signed up online please ask and
can check for you, a basic rule is if you have been involved with
the Club previously you will be on the database.
